Transformation of the Day: Stephanie lost 204 pounds by focusing on healthy eating habits and exercise. During her journey, this proud mom learned to be focused and consistent and move forward after minor setbacks.
What was your motivation? What inspires you to keep going during the tough times?
My motivation was to be more mentally, physically, and emotionally healthy for myself and my kids. My inspiration to keep pushing was seeing the results I was getting.
How did you change your eating habits?
I began with keto but transitioned to intermittent fasting. I watched my portions and focused on fruits, veggies, and lean proteins.
Tell us about your workout routine.
I started with walking. I added a weighted vest and arm weights when I began to plateau. I incorporated water aerobics, jogging, HIIT, and weight training.
I did cardio 4 to 5 times a week for at least an hour – with 30 minutes of weights a few times a week.
What was your starting weight? What is your current weight?
My starting weight was 394 pounds. My current weight is 190 pounds.
How tall are you?
When did you begin your weight loss journey?
I started my journey in May 2019. It took two years to get the weight off and an additional year of body recomposition to tone. I’m still working on toning.
What is the biggest lesson you’ve learned so far?
The biggest lesson I’ve learned is to stay focused and consistent. I also learned to forgive myself for minor setbacks and to get back on the horse when I fall off.
Is weight loss surgery part of your journey?
No. Before I began my journey, I went to a weight loss doctor to ask questions about healthy ways to eat and live a better lifestyle. He told me that surgery was my only option because I was 37 and hadn’t lost the weight by now. That was the spark I needed. I left his office and put in the work with his words in the back of my mind. He didn’t believe I could do it on my own.
What advice would you like to share with women who want to lose weight?
Patience is necessary when you are going through a lifestyle change. If you are ready to lose weight, reach for longevity. The goal is to change your life, so fad diets won’t cut it.
